How to use Winbannu: a step-by-step paper trading guide

Everything you need to go from a new account to your first stock trade, a stop-loss and a NIFTY options position, all with virtual money and live NSE and BSE prices.

Updated 16 October 2026

1. Create your account

Go to winbannu.com and click Start your free trial. Register with a username, your mobile number and a password, or sign in with Google. Each mobile number can hold one account.

Every account starts with ₹10,00,000 of virtual cash and 7 days of every Pro feature free. No card, broker or demat account is needed.

2. Find your way around the screen

The watchlist on the left shows live prices for popular NSE and BSE stocks and the NIFTY, BANKNIFTY and SENSEX indices. Use the ALL, NSE, BSE and Index filters, or the search box to find any other listed stock. Click a symbol to load it.

The selected symbol's tabs run across the middle of the screen:

TabWhat it's for

IndicatorsAdd moving averages, RSI, MACD, ATR and more to the chart.
Options ChainCalls and puts for NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, SENSEX and stock options, with the Greeks.

Along the top you'll find Pop-out chart to open the chart in its own window, Day/Night to switch themes, and Reset to start over with a fresh ₹10,00,000.

3. Place your first stock trade

1

Pick a stock

Click a large, liquid name such as Reliance, TCS or HDFC Bank in the watchlist.

2

Choose Market and a quantity

On Chart & Trade, keep the order type on Market and enter how many shares to buy. The panel shows the estimated cost.

3

Click Buy

The order fills straight away at the live price, and the shares appear under Positions.

4

Sell when you're done

Click Sell on the same stock, or Close on its row in Positions.

Trades can only be placed during market hours: 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM IST, Monday to Friday, excluding NSE holidays.

4. Limit and stop-loss orders

Switch the order type in the trade panel:

To set a price, type it in, or click pick from chart and click the level on the chart. Pending orders show on the chart as lines and are listed in the Orders tab, where you can edit or cancel them. They fill automatically when the price is reached; you don't need to keep the tab open.

The quickest way to protect a stock you already hold: open Positions, click Stop-Loss on its row, then click your exit price on the chart.

5. Trade NIFTY options

NIFTY can't be bought as a stock; you trade it through options.

1

Open the options chain

Select NIFTY in the watchlist and open the Options Chain tab. Calls are on the left and puts on the right, with strikes in the middle. Choose an expiry at the top.

2

Click a premium

This opens the order ticket with the premium, Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega and IV for that contract.

3

Choose lots and a stop-loss

Options trade in lots. One NIFTY lot is 65 units, so a ₹100 premium costs ₹6,500 per lot. Optionally enter a stop-loss premium: the ticket shows the most you'd lose if it's hit.

4

Buy or sell to open

  • Buy to Open buys the option. Your maximum loss is the premium you pay.
  • Sell to Open writes (shorts) the option. You receive the premium but margin is blocked, and losses can be much larger than the premium.

To exit, use Sell to Close or Buy to Close in the ticket, or Close/Cover in Positions. You can add or change a stop-loss later with the Stop-Loss button on the option's row in Positions; the position closes automatically when the premium reaches it.

6. Charts, indicators and drawing tools

7. Track your positions and history

Positions shows each holding's average cost, last price, market value and live profit or loss, plus any stop-loss you've set. History lists every trade, including stop-losses that were hit, with realised profit or loss. Review it every week: it's the honest record of whether your approach works.

Want price notifications? In Alerts, set a target price and Winbannu tells you when it's crossed.

8. Practise outside market hours with Replay

Open Replay, pick any day from the last 30 days and click Start replay. The whole terminal goes back to that day's 9:15 AM open: prices, charts, indicators and the options chain all move as they did. You get a separate ₹10,00,000 practice balance, so your real portfolio isn't touched. Use Play, Pause and the speed buttons to control the clock.

Common questions

Why can't I place a trade?

Orders only go through during market hours (9:15 AM to 3:30 PM IST, Monday to Friday). You also need enough virtual cash, or margin for option selling. Outside market hours, try Replay.

Can I start over?

Yes. Click Reset at the top to go back to ₹10,00,000. This clears your positions, orders and history.

What does Pro include?

Limit and stop-loss orders, RSI, MACD and every chart timeframe, the options chain with live Greeks, search for any NSE or BSE stock, price alerts, the News tab and CSV export of your trades. Every new account gets all of it free for 7 days.

Are option prices the same as on the exchange?

They're calculated from the live index price with the Black-Scholes model, so they move realistically but won't exactly match the exchange's option quotes.
